10 CONTRADICTIONS OF THE SEASONAL COLOR ANALYSIS

April 21, 20243 min read

1 Individual Variation

You are unique, and your skin tone, eye color, and hair color can vary widely within a particular "seasonal" category. Every person´s color type is as unique as their fingerprint! So you generally cannot be put into one of the 4 color types without neglecting crucial aspects of your natural coloring and identity.

For example, two individuals classified as "Autumn" have significantly different innate coloring in their skin or variations in their hair and eye colors. Their Melanin-based pigmentation varies significantly yet they are all put into one category and being suggested one and the same color palette! This individual variation can lead to contradictions when trying to apply a one-size-fits-all approach.

2 Changing Hair Color

Hair color changes naturally over time or through dyeing.

Someone classified as a "Spring" based on their natural hair color may decide to dye their hair a darker shade in contrast to the analysis, creating a contradiction between their hair color and seasonal category.

3 Cultural Differences

Different cultures have varying preferences and associations with colors.

What is considered flattering or stylish in one culture doesn´t have to be the same for another and if it does not align with the seasonal color analysis it leads to contradictions when applying it to individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

4 Personal Preferences

Personal style and preferences can override the recommendations of the seasonal color analysis. You may feel more confident and comfortable in colors that do not align with your designated season, leading to a contradiction between your style choices and the analysis.

This will feel like a waste of time and money if in the end you have to find your best colors yourself.

5 Skin Undertones

Skin undertones are yet another massive misconception and misinterpretation of skin colors that is not based on science. This leads to recommendations of the wrong colors. In fact, there are NO undertones from a scientific perspective but Root Skin Colors within a spectrum of 3 main colors/frequencies.

The flawed concept of undertones creates confusion when categorizing you into a specific season, especially if the analysis doesn't account for the true scientific complexity of skin colors.

6 Evolving Beauty Trends

Beauty trends change over time, including the popularity of certain colors or makeup styles.

These trends do not align with the traditional color palettes associated with the seasonal analysis, causing contradictions for those who want to follow current trends. New colors and variations will confuse you and you will not know whether you can wear this color or not.

7 Inconsistent Interpretation

Different stylists or practitioners interpret the seasonal color analysis differently or have varying criteria for assigning seasonal categories, leading to contradictions in recommendations given to the same individual. This creates massive disappointment and resentment in many people who start to believe that there is something wrong with them if they don´t fit into either seasonal category.

This creates self-doubt, self-criticism, self-hate, or even self-harm.

8 Environmental Factors

The lighting and surroundings during a color analysis impacts the perceived colors of your skin, hair, and eyes. I see many seasonal analysists not respecting this and analyze clients facing a wall or using artificial lighting which dilutes the innate coloring of a person.

Different environments or lighting conditions will yield conflicting results which will lead to recommendations of the wrong colors.

9 Complexion Changes

Factors such as sun exposure, aging, season, geographical location, and health conditions affect your complexion over time. These changes are not aligned or considered with the original seasonal classification.

10 Emotional Connection to Colors

You often have personal emotional connections to certain colors, which can influence your choice of clothing and makeup. These emotional connections are not always aligned with your designated seasonal colors which leads to frustration.
